A challenging diagnosis of neurodegenerative dementia: Psychiatric onset of frontotemporal lobar degeneration

Frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) is a heterogeneous syndrome characterized by degeneration of the frontotemporal lobes associated with language, executive, and behavioral disturbances. Psychiatric symptoms have been reported over the disease course. When presenting at the onset, diagnosis can be highly challenging. We report three unusual cases of FTLD with psychiatric onset.
