•Effect of operation parameters on membrane performance under permeate pressure was studied.•Saturated vapor pressure was found to be very important in the gas/vapor separation.•The reason for descending performance with increasing permeate pressure was discussed.•Simulation of energy consumption in gas/vapor separation was conducted.
