Abstract
Herein, we report a facile synthesis of a conjugated macrocyclic nanoring, cyclo[9]paraphenylene-2,11-hexabenzocoronenylene ([9]CPPH2,11) with graphenic hexabenzocoronene sidewall by Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The structure of [9]CPPH2,11 was confirmed by HR-MS and NMR. The photophysical properties were studied using UV/Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Possessing unique structural and physical properties, this conjugated macrocyclic nanoring with a graphenic hexabenzocoronene sidewall can expand the scope of bottom-up synthesis of uniform carbon nanotube segments and potential applications in hole- and electron-transport devices.
