The preparation of cross-linkable polyethylene via coordination copolymerization of ethylene with alkene-derived chlorosilane

•Alkene-derived chlorosilanes were synthesized via hydrosilylation under mild condition.•The crosslink-able polyethylene was prepared by the copolymerization of ethylene and alkene-derived chlorosilanes.•Crosslinking was simply finished by treatment with methanol and hydrolysis in water.•The crosslinked copolymers showed better thermal stability and heat deformation resistance.
