Full Volume Estimation of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms by Extended Field of View Three Dimensional Ultrasound: Vascular Imaging

Introduction: In abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) surveillance, volume growth without corresponding change in diameter occurs in approximately 40% of patients, as determined by three dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) and three dimensional ultrasound (3D-US). Full volume determination of AAAs is currently confined to 3D-CT. 3D-US is a radiation free alternative but is restricted to a certain field of view (FoV), which results in only partial AAA volume determination in approximately 40% of patients.
