How Does Intelligent Mining Transformation Contribute to Carbon Peak?——A Simulation Study in China

With the targets of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the intelligent mining transformation of coal mines has emerged as the critical component in meeting the huge demand for energy consumption. To provide new insight into the industry policy of intelligent mining transformation in China, the transition process of the status of coal mines is analyzed from the perspective of technology diffusion by using the system dynamics theory. It is revealed that keeping the failure rate of intelligent mining transformation under 0.05, increasing the acceptance rate of transformation, and optimizing the industrial structure can promote the smooth intelligent transformation of traditional coal mines. The carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions generated by coal would be effectively down to 61.3% of that in 2020 by the intelligent transformation. The sensitivity analysis suggests that the perturbations in the contact rate of coal mines and the decision time to quit have a positive influence. Our results bear policy implications on the adjustment of the coal mine industry structure, premising additional researches on the challenges of intelligent mining transformation in China.
