The Role of Endogenous Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor (GLP-1R) Signaling in Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Infection

摘要
RSV-induced bronchiolitis remains a leading cause of infant hospitalizations each year in the United States and current treatment is limited to supportive care. We previously published that administration of an exogenous GLP-1R agonist, liraglutide, reduced RSV-induced type 2 inflammation and pulmonary pathology, but increased weight loss following RSV infection. The effect of endogenous GLP-1R signaling on RSV infection remains unknown. We hypothesized that the inability to signal through GLP-1R reduces RSV-induced weight loss.
