Preparation and Characterization of Nano Zinc Oxides by Microemulsion

Nano zinc oxides were prepared by microemulsion system of oleic acid/ butanol /NaOH solution.The samples were characterized by thermo gravimetric-differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA),photoluminscence(PL),laser granularity analysis,infrared spectrum(IR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).XRD results indicate that zinc oxides exhibit hexagonal structure with average diameter of 23.9nm,which is obviously smaller than that derived from laser granularity analysis.PL results reveal that the zinc oxides have an emission band at around 425nm.IR results suggest the Zn-O vibration peak of zinc oxides redshifts with increasing calcining temperature and concentration of NaOH in the microemulsion system.
