Research on Frequency Regulation Strategy Based on Model Predictive Control for Wind-Hydro-Storage Complementary Microgrid

To suppress the frequency deviation when the wind-hydro-storage complementary microgrid operates under island mode, a frequency regulation strategy based on model predictive control (MPC) is proposed in this paper. Based on the characteristics of wind power and small hydropower, wind-hydro-storage complementary microgrid is firstly modeled, and the coordinated control structure of multiple distributed generations (DGs) is constructed. Then, a prediction model with the system operating safety boundary as the constraint conditions and the minimum frequency deviation as the optimization objective is established. The controller coordinates the power of multiple energy sources to provide reliable frequency support for the microgrid through rolling optimization. Finally, considering the load variation and power fluctuation of wind power, the proposed control strategy is simulated and verified. Performance of the proposed frequency control is compared with traditional control strategy and the results verify the superiority of the proposed control strategy.
