A Hybrid DW Design Method Using a Semantic Resource

Data warehouse (DW) plays an important role in organizations as it supports the decision makers to take the right decisions in time. The hybrid DW design approach acquires acceptable agreement between researchers in DW area. As well, using ontology is a helpful factor for solving the heterogeneity problems. Unfortunately, despite these successes, the reconciling process between business requirements and data source remains a great challenge for DW designers. In this paper, we propose a method for reconciling business requirements with data source. Our approach distinguishes from existing ones in that it: i) bases on natural language for requirements elicitation; ii) uses a WordNet as a semantic resource to solve the heterogeneity problems; iii) automates the generation of the reconciling process; iv) allows the DW designer intervene to validate the generated multidimensional model. We developed a software prototype to demonstrate the simplicity of our approach.
