An Enhanced Local Neighborhood-Based Niching Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Multimodal Fitness Surfaces

This paper aims to introduce a niching technique based upon simple local neighborhood-based PSO for multimodal optimization. The corresponding algorithm known as Enhanced Local Neighborhood Based Niching Particle Swarm Optimization (ELNPSO) algorithm has shown promising results when used in conjunction with multimodal optimization problems, which has been established by comparing the performance with three other multimodal optimizers tested upon eleven different multimodal benchmarking functions.
