Power quality problems with renewable energy integration

This chapter looks at the utilization of alternate sources of energy and power quality (PQ) problems. The uncertainties associated with renewable energy sources (RES) are causing minor and/or major PQ problems. These issues need to be eliminated or minimized appropriately. The solution varies with cause. The integration of RES is demonstrated in this chapter. The mathematical formulation of PQ problems is discussed. The use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based controllers is explained. The design procedure of a fuzzy logic-based controller and artificial neural network-based controller is detailed. The effect of AI and inverter topology is adapted for design details.
