Background Danshen (DS) is a kind of herbal medicine made of salvia miltiorrhiza root and usually used for treatment of cardiovascular diseases, especially angina pectoris and ischemic heart diseases. There are many OTC (Over The Counter) drugs containing Danshen and sold without prescription. Therefore, the drug combination of DS and other cardiovascular drugs may occur frequently. This study aims to research the effect of DS containing OTC drug on the intestinal absorption of Nisoldipine (NSP), a calcium channel antagonist, in vivo in rats.
