Complex Research Teams on the Rise

The first part of this chapter examines the research literature in two important areas: the reasons behind the rise in complex teams in qualitative research, and concurrently, the significant discussions emerging about writing among qualitative researchers. As the reader will discover, these two issues are linked in significant ways. The second part of the chapter provides a foundational discussion on qualitative research (definitions, principles, and forms of data) that will anchor the novice reader and provide important background for the expert reader. This text takes a problem-based approach to qualitative research, which is carefully described in this section. This chapter is supported with extensive bibliographic resources that will prove useful for readers who want to do further exploration of their own.
