Review of the two-years work of catheterization laboratory in General hospital Uzice

Following objectives of the 'Stent for life' initiative Cardiology Society of Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Health started an forming a network do percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) centers in Serbia. Cardiac catheterization laboratory at the General hospital in Užice started to work 12.12.2011st. Working hours are from 07 h Mondays to 13h Fridays. All 335,826 inhabitants of the Zlatibor region gravitate to cardiac catheterization laboratory of General hospital in Užice. Until 31.07.2013rd 1504 coronary procedure were done in our Cath lab, of which 1017 were diagnostic coronary angiography, 228 primary PCIs and 259 elective percutaneous coronary procedures. Approximately 86% of patiens with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) recived some form of reperfusion therapy, of which 75% were treated with PPCI and 25% with thrombolytic therapy. Intrahospital mortality of patients treated with PPCI was 3,1%. In elective settings most of treated lesion were type A i B1. Our goals are: further education of our personnel, introducing novel procedures, 24/7 availability of PPCI, reduction of 'first medical contact to needle time' and improving cooperation with other hospitals in our district.
