Abstract This chapter argues for the syntactic relevance of root ontology. This chapter explores the connections between the semantic properties of roots and morphosyntactic properties and argues that some correlations between interpretation and morphosyntax can be derived from the semantic types of the roots which form the lexical core of verbs.
