摘要

•Novel cardioprotective effects of HBO therapy in STZ-diabetic rats are presented.•Diabetes-induced concentric LV remodeling and fibrosis were prevented by HBO.•HBO preserved myocyte size and mitigated leukocyte influx in STZ-diabetic hearts.•HBO upregulated LV Mmp2 mRNA and inhibited STZ-induced Tgfb1 and Mmp9 upregulation.•Protein expression of LV TNF-α and VEGF were normalized in HBO-treated STZ rats.
