Design of Variable Thickness Wing Based on Two-way Shape Memory Alloy Drive

As military reconnaissance, environmental monitoring, medical rescue and other fields have increasingly higher requirements for aircraft, traditional fixed-wing aircraft can no longer meet these high requirements. To solve this problem, a variable thickness wing with simple structure and rapid deformation is proposed. Based on the requirements of variable thickness wing drive, a self-resetting flexible actuator composed of cylindrical helical compression spring and two-way shape memory alloy spring is designed. The deformation of the wing is predicted by finite element simulation, and the size of shape memory alloy in flexible actuator is designed under the guidance of the corresponding net output force. After the design of variant wing and the construction of experimental platform, the thickness deformation experiment of wing is carried out. The experimental results show that the relative thickness of the wing is increased by about 2.0%, which effectively improves the flight performance of the aircraft, and the wing can be stably restored to its original state.
