摘要
Atherosclerosis is an inflammation with the formation of plaques of fat, calcium and other elements in the middle and intimate layer of artery walls in the human body, either in diffuse or localized form. It is characterized by the narrowing and hardening of arteries due to the accumulation of fat in its walls, known as atheroma.1 Over the years, the growth of plaques causes the narrowing of the vessel, which may reach complete obstruction, restricting blood flow in the region. It increases considerably in patients with chronic renal failure due to mechanisms such as oxidative stress, inflammation, hyperphosphatemia, hypercalcemia by parathyroid hormone elevation and low HDL-cholesterol fraction,2,3 as well as classic factors such as hypertension, diabetes ABSTRACT
