摘要
Background The marketing of direct acting antiviral agents (DAAs) has meant a great revolution in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The high effectiveness of DAAs has accelerated the treatment of many patients, so that queries to pharmacy services has increased by patients and health professionals. Purpose To evaluate queries made to hospital pharmacists regarding the treatment of hepatitis C with DAAs. Material and methods Descriptive, prospective and observational study. We analysed all queries made from the beginning of treatment with DAAs (February 2015) up to now (September 2015). The following variables were collected from the Access database: date, medical service, interlocutor (patient, health professional, family), type of query, treatment with DAAs, bibliographic sources, time spent, and query resolved or not. Results There were 86 queries during this period, 68 (79%) from the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and 18 (21%) from the Department of Infectious Diseases. Interlocutor: 75 patients, 8 doctors, 2 pharmacists and 1 nurse. Query type: contraindications and interactions 71 (82.6%); dosage and administration 7 (8.1%); side effects and adverse reactions 6 (7%); and other 2 (2.3%). The antibiotics were the group of drugs mainly consulted for contraindications and interactions (17 (24%)) followed by NSAIDs (12 (17%)) and benzodiazepines (7 (10%)). The prescribed DAAs were: OTP/PTV/r+DSV 37 (43%); SOF/LDV 36 (41.9%); SOF/DCV 4 (4.6%); SIM/SOF 1 (1.2%); SOF 1 (1.2%); and unknown 7 (8.1%). Bibliographic sources: University of Liverpool drug interaction database 35 (33%); Lexi-Comp 40 (37.7%); summary of product characteristics 28 (26.4%); and Abbie database 3 (2.8%). An average of 1.23 bibliographical sources were consulted. The average time spent on resolving each query was 5.47 min. All queries were resolved. Conclusion Greater numbers of patients have requested pharmaceutical care. Most of the queries were about contraindications and interactions. This study demonstrates the importance of hospital pharmacists in resolving pharmaceutical care issues to provide optimal care for patients with chronic HCV infection.
