摘要
This study was conducted to explore the determinants of awareness level among farmers regarding recommended production technology. Cotton is globally acknowledged crop as the textile industry fully relies on cotton production. Pakistan stays among five leading cotton producers of the world but the production is considerably lower as compared to other countries for many reasons. Total 480 cotton growers participated in the study. Face to face interviews on a structured questionnaire were conducted with the farmers. Logistic regression model was applied to explore the determinants of the awareness level. Before the regression, multicollinearity was tested between the independent variables. The coefficient output confirmed there was no multicollinearity. Logistic regression outcome indicated that, education, land size, area under cultivation, annual income and experience were statistically significant (P<0.05) with the dependent variables' awareness level whereas age, tenancy status and income source were statistically insignificant (P>0.05). Findings conclude that demographic attributes of the farmers had great contribution to their awareness. Until, the awareness is not reached the farmers couldn't be able to adopt latest technologies and improve the production of cotton crop. This study urges that awareness of the farmers is gently ignored, but the significance cannot be undermined. The institutions should out their emphasis on awareness building among the farmers regarding recommended production technologies.
