Origin Of The Satellites In The L-Emission Spectra

The wavelengths of the satellites L beta(1), L beta(1), L beta(2)(I), L beta(2)(II), L beta(2)((b)) and L beta(2)((c)) in the L-emission spectra have been calculated on the basis of multiple ionisation theory using the semi-empirical Auger electron energies in the doubly ionized atoms. Groups of transitions under the transition schemes L2Mx-->MxM4 and L3Mx-->MxM5 which give rise to these satellites have been identified. Goad agreement has been found between the calculated and observed wavelengths. The problem regarding the resolution of these satellites in the different elements has also been examined.
