Presence Of Anthraquinones In Different Parts Of The Plant Of Morinda Citrifolia L

This paper's objective is to determine the presence of anthraquinones in different parts of the Morinda citrifolia L plant. It was determined the presence of anthraquinones in the roots and stems in the qualitative analysis. From the quantitative analysis it was obtained that the greater content of anthraquinones was found in the roots, differing significantly from the rest. In the purification by silica gel columns a peak from fraction 5 to 15 was observed in the roots (gradients 2 and 3), in the stems, only in gradient 2 appears a peak of big intensity. For the branches, two insignificant peaks that absorbed in the same gradients 2 and 3 like the roots did, were observed, agreeing with the polarity of compounds in this organ. The leaves presented a greater number of compound and varied polarity, from gradients 2 to 4. Although we observed in fruits two well defined compounds in the gradients 2 and 3, their intensities are low. The results of the TLC correspond to the column ones, since only gradients 2 and 3 have the most intense peaks. In decreasing order it follows the stem and we did not find significant differences among the results in the branches, leaves and fruits.
