摘要
This paper facilitates a clear understanding of some of the issues related to the use of radiological imaging in the medical profession. The paper discusses this issue in relationship to the concept of Big Data. "Big Data" is characterized by Volume (amount of data), Velocity (speed of data in and out), Variety (range of data types and sources), and Veracity (Uncertainty of Data). A major problem in medical imaging (or radiology) is the difficulty in extracting imaging data from radiology information systems (RIS) and combining it with clinical, lab, and genomic data. "Diagnostic imaging" represents an excellent example of the term of Big Data due to the volume and complexity of imaging information. When Big Data is managed and integrated, organizations can apply analytics to better understand the clinical and operational states of their business based on historical and current trends, and predict what might occur in the future with a trusted level of reliability. This will ensure the relevance of RIS using "Big Data" technologies and tools. In this context, we propose to analyze and study the role that "Big Data" can play in the development of a healthcare and/or a radiological information system. We will demonstrate the importance of Information Systems within healthcare and radiological organizations and their importance in the management of these organizations. We will explain what are the challenges facing the Information Systems profession as they implement Big Data solutions to the storage, analysis and use of radiological images as an integral part of health Informatics.
