Abstract
A sensitivity analysis is presented to investigate holy well the output signal of a surface magnetic field measurement (SMFM) probe can relate to the thickness of a conducting plate as a function of the probe current frequency. The effects of the probe size as well as the plate conductivity and permeability are also studied. It is shown that both the magnitude and phase of the SMFN probe output signal are sensitive to the variation of the plate thickness provided that its magnitude is not much larger than two skin depths.
