Detection of glucose in diabetic tears by using gold nanoparticles and MXene composite surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrates

•Sensitive and noninvasive detection of glucose in the tears of diabetic patients.•We quantitatively measured glucose levels by examining SERS peaks of MG.•This substrate can be used in the real biological matrix such as tears.•Real body fluid testing is more effective for clinical detection.
