Abstract
“Frailty” is characterized by decreased physiological adaptive reserve and increased morbidity and mortality. Immune dysregulation is considered a potential contributor to frailty. Chronic infection with Toxoplasma gondii (Tg) is linked with low grade immune activation, cognitive impairment and depression. We thus hypothesized positive associations between frailty, cognitive deficits, and depression with Tg IgG titers and seropositivity in older adults.
