Increased internal cerebral vein diameter is associated with age

•We compare across age groups and use SWI to explore whether there is a relationship between a larger cerebral draining venous diameter and age.•This study presents data correlating venous dimensions in each age stage starting from ages 20 through 90 with age and sex-matched subjects.•Our results indicated that venous distension occurred in the aging brain.
