摘要

•A fluorescent probe L based on furan Schiff base has been developed for Al3+.•The crystal structure of L was obtained•L exhibited excellent selectivity towards Al3+ with color change.•L showed fairly low detection limit.•L was successfully utilized to detect Al3+ in real water samples.
