Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is a chronic, autoimmune blistering disease that affects mainly the elderly, with autoantibodies (IgG and/or IgE) directed against the 180 kDa BP antigen (BP180) and/or the 230 kDa BP antigen (BP230) located in the basement membrane zone. It is widely accepted that in the pathogenesis of BP, a strong correlation with various medications may exist.
