Demographics, body condition scores and feeding of aged horses (≥20 years of age) - a Swedish survey

•Horses 20–42 years of age were generally reported to be in moderate to ideal body condition.•Aged horses were fed forage based diets with low inclusions of concentrates.•Horses ≥20 years may require 1.1 their theoretical energy requirement for maintenance.
