Relational Text-Type For Biological Sequences

DNA sequencers output very long biological data strings that we should persist in a database system. In this paper, we first propose a conceptual schema for representing the core biological information, which may be inferred from biological data and necessary function manipulations. We also present a possible extension of the relational text data type-specific to manipulate biological sequences and their derivatives.
