A new magnesium(II) complex of marbofloxacin: Crystal structure, antibacterial activity and acute toxicity

The first magnesium(II) complex of marbofloxacin was reported and its crystal structure was characterized. It indicated that the coordination of marbofloxacin with Mg(II) effectively reduced the acute toxicity while maintained the antibacterial activity, making the complex a promising metal-based veterinary drug.
