CURRENT STATUS OF DDAVP FORMULATIONS AND THEIR USE IN HEMOSTATIC DISORDERS

The objective of this study was to determine the current status of 1-deamino-8-D- arginine vasopressin (DDAVP) formulations and their use in the management of haemostatic disorders. The response of patients with hemophilia and von Willebrand's disease to treatment with intravenous administration of DDAVP (desmopressin) is well documented. Pharmacology of DDAVP, forms of treatment of bleeding disorders, and evaluation of the results obtained, are presented and discussed. These results provide evidence for an important role of DDAVP in the management of hemostatic disorders.
