Aging Properties of Ytterbia-Yttria Costabilized Zirconia Ceramics

The aging properties of Y/Yb costabilized zirconia ceramics with different Y/Yb ratios were investigated. Aging experiments were performed in an autoclave. The phase constitution of the samples was analyzed via X-ray diffraction. Samples' surface morphology was studied via scanning electron microscopy. Meanwhile, the fracture toughness of samples was tested. Results shown that, doping Ytterbium into zirconia ceramics can increase its aging properties effectively.
