DEVELOPMENT OF A RAW JUICE PURIFICATION METHOD WITH SLUDGE SEPARATION AFTER INITIAL LIMING

This study aimed to validate the accuracy of the hypotheses formulated on the basis of laboratory tests of model solutions. The results obtained were compared with those obtained during the process of factory juice purification carried out under industrial conditions. The classical method of raw juice purification and a developed method of purification with reactivated with lime water slurry I and II and sludge separation after an initial liming were used in test cycles. The application of the latter method resulted in the decrease of thin juice coloration, in the drop of the calcium salt content, increasing of purification effect and the purity of thin juice. This research on the purification of raw juice with the use of reactivation with calcium carbonate and separation of sludge after initial liming led to the development of a new purification method which may be applied when material of lower technological value is processed.
