Abstract
We present a three year old persian cat with a congenital liver cyst. The diagnosis of this cyst was made by ultrasonography. Before surgery we did a centesis of the cyst. The fluid was diagnosed as modified transuclate with masses of erythrocytes. The following laparotomy showed a childheadsized cyst of the liver, connected with all liver lobes. The following partial resection of the cyst wall with omentalization helped to minimize the duration of surgery and prevented recurrence. The result of the histological examination was a congenital liver cyst with the differential diagnosis choleclochal bile cyst.
