Presented are efficient synthetic procedures for the following compoounds: the D- and L-isomers of N α -tert-butoxycarbonyl-β-(3-quinolyl) amine (N α -Boc-3-Quinal, 11 and 12), the D- and L-isomers of N α -tert-butoxycarbonyl-N e -nicotinoyl-lysine (N α -Boc-Niclys, 24 and 25), and the D- and L-isomers of N α -tert-butoxycarbonyl-N e -benzyloxycarbonyl-N e -isopropyllysine dicyclohexylamine salt (N α -Boc-N e -Z-Ilys DCHA salt, 26 and 27)
