摘要

•An extensive increase of WD40 motifs in Planctomycetes was observed.•Function of WD40 motifs-bearing proteins in Planctomycetes showed higher diversity than in non-Planctomycetes bacteria.•WD40 proteins should have an ancient origin in Planctomycetes.•Planctomycetes conserved with eukaryotic WD40 motifs, while had increased size of the interval region of β-sheets D and A.
