摘要
Radical prostatectomy (RP) is one of the first-line treatments widely performed for localized prostate cancer. However, it is not uncommon it may affect urinary continence or erectile function having a significant impact on patients' quality of life (QoL) and their partners. We aim to assess the surgical outcomes, safety and satisfaction of performing synchronous implantation of an inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) and RP. Retrospective observational study evaluating the results and improvement of sexual QoL in patients undergoing a simultaneous IPP and RP in Bellvitge University Hospital. The Expanded Prostate Cancer Index (EPIC) was used to assess the health-related QoL after the procedure was done. From 2018 until July 2019, 8 patients underwent a simultaneous IPP-RP:7(88%) robotic and 1(12%) laparoscopic. Patients' demographics and oncologic data are summarised in Table-1. All had prior erectile dysfunction(ED): 3(37%) respondent to PDE5-inhibitor and 5(63%) non-respondent. 7(88%) received an AMS 700 LGX and 1(12%) Titan Touch IPP. All reservoirs were placed ectopically (high-submuscular). 1(12%) required penile modeling. 2(25%) experienced postoperative complications (hematoma and supersonic transporter deformity; acute urinary retention). All IPP were successfully activated.
