Metal -organic framework HKUST-1-based Cu/Cu 2 O/CuO@C porous composite: Rapid synthesis and uptake application in antibiotics remediation

•Cu/Cu2O/CuO@C composite could be easily synthesized from metal-organic framework HKUST-1.•Nonlinear models were applied for kinetics and isotherms.•Cu/Cu2O/CuO@C composite could be reusable for up to 4 cyles.•Plausible adsorption mechanisms were based on hydrogen bonding, π–π, and n–π interactions.•High maximum uptake capacities for CIP and TTC were reached, 67.5–112.5 mg/g.
