摘要
Objective: This paper seeks to assess the efficacy and safety of oral fosfomycin trometamol powder for the treatment of urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by indwelling bladder catheter. Methods: From November 2016 to February 2018, 125 patients with urinary tract infection were randomized into group 1 (n=63) and group 2 (n=62). Patients in both groups were balanced with regard to baseline urinary tract symptoms, fever, leukocytosis and positive urinary culture (P>0.05). Patients in group 1 received fosfomycin trometamol powder 3g on a daily basis, while group 2 received levofloxacin tablet 0.5g daily. The treatment lasted 7 days but was extended to 14 days as deemed necessary. The total treatment course did not exceed two weeks. Patients' symptoms, signs, complete blood count, urinalysis, urine culture, and pharmacological sensitivity tests were performed. Results: After 7 days of fosfomycin trometamol treatment, 45(71.4%) cases were cured and 12 cases were improved. In total, in 57 (90.5%) patients, the treatment was as effective. In group 2, 34 (54.8%) were cured and 11 cases were improved. In total, there were 45 (72.6%) patients classified as effective. After 14 days of fosfomycin trometamol treatment, 51(90.0%) cases were cured and 8 cases were improved. In total, in 59 (93.7%) patients, treatment was as effective. In group 2, 38 (61.3%) were cured and 13 cases were improved. In total, there were 51 (82.3%) patients classified as effective. The adverse reaction rates were 17.5% and 6.5%, respectively. Conclusions: Oral fosfomycin trometamol powder is effective and safe in the treatment of urinary tract infection caused by indwelling bladder catheter.
