Genetic polymorphisms of 20 autosomal STR loci in the Han population of Zhangzhou City, Southeastern China

•Twenty autosomal short tandem repeat loci were genotyped in Zhangzhou Han population.•A total of 262 alleles were found among 1555 unrelated individuals.•The 20 autosomal loci in Zhangzhou Han population are useful in forensic medicine.•The structure of Zhangzhou Han was similar with that of the southern Han.
