Abstract
The 512 x 512 CT reconstruction matrix limits axial plane resolution to 0.68 mm when using a display field of view (DFOV) of 35 Rationale: cm, the smallest which still includes both lungs in the image. A 1024 x 1024 CT reconstruction matrix provides in plane resolution of 0.49 mm using a DFOV of 50 cm. We hypothesize here that the new third generation dual source CT (TG-DSCT) scanners using third generation iterative reconstruction (TG-IR) software can fully utilize the increased spatial resolution from a 1024 x 1024 display matrix compared to a 512 x 512 display matrix greatly increasing in plane spatial resolution for CT airway geometry phenotyping with a workflow friendly DFOV of 50 cm.The COPDGene II test object was scanned using a TG-DSCT Siemens Somatom FORCE CT scanner using a SFOV of 50 cm, 0.6 Methods: mm beam collimation, 120 kVp, 12 mGy dose, pitch of 1.0 and no tube current …
