Construction of arming Yarrowia lipolytica surface-displaying soybean seed coat peroxidase for use as whole-cell biocatalyst

•Soybean seed coat peroxidase was displayed on the cell surface of Yarrowia lipolytica to generate a whole-cell biocatalyst.•The recombinant enzyme activity was greatly increased after a series of culture optimization.•This biocatalyst exhibited outstanding enzyme activity and stability without obvious negative effect to the host cells.
