Abstract
Background: Reduced physical activity resulting in deconditioning and restricted physical functioning is a common constraint of patients with moderate to very severe COPD and it is associated with reduced quality of life. Patients treated with T/O show significant improvement in exercise capacity in clinical studies, but real-world data are lacking. Aims: Evaluating physical functioning, health status, and treatment satisfaction in patients with COPD treated with T/O Respimat® FDC, during 6-weeks routine clinical practice in Italy. Methods: An open-label, observational study (NCT03003494) was performed including 309 patients with COPD, receiving T/O Respimat® FDC for 6 weeks, corresponding to the average time between two visits. Patients with COPD requiring a fixed combination therapy of two LAMA + LABA according to GOLD 2017 were enrolled. Patients were analysed for changes in physical functioning (PF-10) and Physician’s Global Evaluation (PGE) score, patient satisfaction with treatment and device. Results: A 10-point increase of PF-10 score was observed in more than half of the patients (52.5% [Cl-95% 46.5-58.5%]). A positive relationship was found between physical functioning (PF-10) and PGE scores. A large fraction of the patients was satisfied with the T/O Respimat® treatment, with 86.3% of patients overall satisfied with the inhaler device treatment, and 89.6% regarding inhaling from the device. Conclusion: This real-life study showed that physical functioning, general patients’ condition, and satisfaction with T/O Respimat® FDC and the device were high in general
