Towards recovery of the scaly-leaved featherflower

The Scaly-leaved Featherflower ('Verticordia spicata subsp. squamosa' A.S.George) has been rare for as long as it has been known. Since its discovery in the 1950s only nine populations of the species have been found over an area of approximately 160 km2 in the Three Springs and Mingenew areas in the mid-west of Western Australia. This area has been extensively cleared in the past, with most of the known populations now occurring on narrow road verges, or in small patches of remnant vegetation on private property (Stack 'et al.' 2004).
