Sol-gel derived fluoridated and non-fluoridated bioactive glass ceramics-based dental adhesives: Compositional effect on re-mineralization around orthodontic brackets

•Bioactive glasses (BG) are promising materials for biomedical applications•Fluoridated/non-fluoridated BG were synthesized with two different calcium precursors.•BG nanoparticles-based orthodontic adhesives were used for in vitro caries challenge.•Calcium nitrate based samples showed favorable results than calcium hydroxide.•F-BG amalgamated with adhesive is the best possible combination for white spot lesion.
