•DNSP-11-antibody signal was detected in rat brain nuclei LC and SNpc using IHC.•DNSP-11-antibody signal only partially co-localizes with GDNF and homologues.•GDNF is maximal at post-natal day 10, but DNSP-11 signal remains in adulthood.
