Platelet indices as biomarkers for characterization and determination of severity in canine chronic enteropathy.

•Platelet indices were evaluated in dogs with chronic enteropathies (CE) as predictors of disease and severity.•Platelet component distribution width was significantly different in dogs with CE compared to healthy dogs.•Platelet count and platelet dry mass distribution width were significantly associated with higher disease severity scores.
